Accessibility services

Accessible design principles, when applied, often result in a significant increase in the usability of interfaces to all users. The need for information and services to be accessible to persons with disabilities is always important for us, beyond the legal and moral arguments for promoting social inclusion by taking advantage of enabling our website to be accessible to the widest possible audience.

Our websites conform level Double-A, including all Priority 1 and Priority 2 checkpoints defined in the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 that explain how to make web content accessible to people with disabilities. Some of the principles applied in our sites are:

• Images & animations use the alt attribute to describe their function.
• Client-side map and text are used for hotspots.
• Captioning and transcripts of audio, and descriptions of video are provided sitewide.
• Texts, and specially hypertext links, make sense when read in different contexts.
• Pages use headings, lists, and consistent structure, and layouts and styles are widely used where possible.
• We provide alternative contents in cases where active features such as scripts and plug-ins are inaccessible or unsupported.
• Our pages are not framed.
• Tables are summarized and made line-by-line reading sensible.
